Arihant Arden’s 500 kWp Rooftop Solar for Apartments Sets Benchmark for India’s High-Rise RWAs

A residential society in Greater Noida West has demonstrated how Rooftop Solar for Apartments can significantly reduce common-area electricity costs while supporting India’s clean energy transition. Arihant Arden has commissioned a 500 kWp rooftop solar plant. It makes the society one of the largest residential solar installations in the National Capital Region.

The on-grid system is expected to generate between 8.7 lakh and 9.49 lakh units of electricity every year. It will help the housing society save more than Rs 60 lakh annually on common-area electricity expenses. The clean energy generated will primarily power lifts, corridor lighting, water pumps and other shared facilities.

The project highlights the growing role of residential solar projects in reducing electricity bills for apartment residents while lowering carbon emissions. It also demonstrates how community-led renewable energy investments can make better use of available rooftop space without requiring additional land.

The project has been positioned as a replicable model for Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and group housing societies looking to adopt solar systems. Rising electricity tariffs and growing demand for sustainable housing are expected to encourage more apartment complexes to evaluate similar investment opportunities.

The initiative aligns with India’s broader push to expand distributed solar capacity and reduce dependence on conventional grid power. While government incentives have largely focused on individual households, successful community installations such as Arihant Arden could encourage wider adoption of housing society solar projects.

The project also addresses one of the biggest challenges for urban renewable energy deployment. The challenge is limited land availability. By utilising existing rooftops, apartment solar panels can efficiently generate clean electricity.
